Privacy policy
This policy explains how Readgist (“the App”) and related services at readgist.que-x.com and the Readgist API handle information. We design Readgist to be offline-first: your PDFs and annotations stay on your device unless you choose Pro sync and sign in.
1. Who we are
Readgist is operated by que-x. For privacy questions, contact support@que-x.com.
2. Information we process
- On your device (local): PDF files you import (via system file picker / share), reading position, highlights, notes, bookmarks, and links. These live in app storage and are not uploaded unless you use Pro cloud sync.
- Account (if you sign in): email address, optional display name, email verification status, and authentication tokens. Google Sign-In provides an ID token we exchange for a Readgist session; we do not receive your Google password.
- Pro / purchases: Google Play subscription product IDs and purchase tokens needed to verify entitlements with Google Play and our servers. Payment card details are processed by Google, not by Readgist.
- Sync metadata (Pro): document file hashes (to match the same PDF across devices), annotation payloads (highlights, notes, hyperlinks, bookmarks), and sync versions — not the full PDF bytes in the current product design.
- Diagnostics (when enabled): crash and analytics events that do not include email, passwords, or purchase tokens. Event parameters use coarse codes (for example import success/fail).
3. How we use information
- Provide reading, annotation, and optional cloud sync features
- Authenticate you and restore Pro entitlements
- Improve reliability and fix crashes
- Comply with law and protect against abuse
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:
- Google Play / Google Sign-In — for authentication and subscription verification
- Infrastructure providers hosting the Readgist API and this website
- Authorities when required by law
5. Retention
Local data remains until you delete the document, clear app data, or uninstall. Cloud account and synced annotations are retained until you delete your Readgist account (Settings → Delete account) or request deletion via support. Deleting your Readgist account does not cancel a Google Play subscription — manage that in the Play Store.
6. Your choices
- Use Readgist as a guest without creating an account
- Sign out or delete your Readgist cloud account in Settings
- Optionally wipe local annotations when deleting the account
- Revoke Google access from your Google account settings
7. Security
Sessions use encrypted storage on device. API traffic uses HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we work to protect accounts and sync data with industry-standard practices.
8. Children
Readgist is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International processing
Servers may be located in jurisdictions different from yours. By using the App and sync features, you understand your information may be processed in those locations with appropriate safeguards where required.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new effective date on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
